Tractor maintenance: annual service cycle step by step

Regular maintenance is the key to a tractor's lifespan. Here is what needs to be done and when, to ensure your machine remains reliable for decades.

Why is planned maintenance worth it?

According to statistics, the lifespan of regularly maintained tractors is up to 50% longer than neglected ones. A well-scheduled service plan can also bring significant fuel savings.

Daily checks

  • Engine oil level
  • Coolant level
  • Tire pressure
  • Operation of lights
  • Search for leaks

Every 50 operating hours

General inspection: lubrication at all points, air filter cleaning, battery contact inspection. Clean the radiator of dust and plant residues.

Every 250 operating hours

  • Engine oil and oil filter replacement
  • Fuel filter inspection
  • Hydraulic oil level and quality
  • V-belt tension

Every 500 operating hours

Detailed maintenance: fuel filter replacement, air filter replacement (if necessary), differential oil level check, inspection of the chassis and steering system.

Every 1000 operating hours or annually

  • Hydraulic oil and filter replacement
  • Transmission oil replacement (depending on type)
  • Coolant replacement
  • Air conditioning maintenance
  • Battery load test

Before winter shutdown

Wash it thoroughly, treat metal surfaces with a corrosion inhibitor. Fill the fuel tank to prevent condensation. Remove the battery and store it in a frost-free place.

Pre-season start-up

In the spring, thoroughly inspect the entire machine before putting it to work. After winter storage, seals can often leak.

Tip

Keep a maintenance log! A simple notebook or mobile application helps keep track of services performed and increases the value of the tractor upon sale.
